Not a nice view out of the window, BUT very central in beautiful old city of Sonderborg and the best pizza on Als, if not in Denmark ;-)

The very best Italian restaurant I've been to in Denmark and it's actually Italians who cook the food and you can taste it 💚👏💚

We really enjoyed the city and surrounding area—great restaurants and a pleasant atmosphere. Unfortunately, the Bella Italia hotel itself was disappointing. Service: The young receptionist showed no interest in communicating, even though we spoke Polish and German. Instead of trying to help, she gave the impression that it was our problem that we didn't speak English. Room: Clean and well-maintained, but very stuffy. The air conditioning was set to a minimum of 24°C, making a comfortable sleep impossible. We slept with the windows open, but in the morning we were woken by the noise of the truck bringing new sheets and towels—the metal trolleys being pulled out of the truck effectively ended our sleep. Breakfast: Very poor, with little choice. On the second day, I had the last roll left for myself. Not particularly good for Denmark. Furthermore, the entire buffet was set up in the hallway leading to reception, which looked unhygienic and unprofessional. Cleaning: We forgot to put up the "do not clean" sign—our mistake. However, the cleaning lady lectured my wife in a rude tone, which was uncomfortable and unnecessary, even though we immediately explained the situation. Check-out: the most stressful part of the stay. The stay was a gift from my daughter and was paid for, but the receptionist claimed "the system is showing red" and we had to pay. We couldn't reach our daughter, and the staff looked at us as if we were trying to avoid payment. Only after double-checking did we discover that everything had been paid. We received no apology or explanation—just a printed invoice and a goodbye. Summary: a great city, but the hotel unfortunately didn't meet expectations—mainly due to the service, air conditioning issues, and a stressful check-out.
