"Have you made a reservation?" asked the friendly receptionist. Unfortunately, no! No problem. Even so, we were given the "cat's table." The service and the food more than made up for it. Delicious, plentiful, and very friendly service. We'll definitely be back.

Hygge, home-style cooking, and a schnitzel fit for giants We were a group of seven at Restaurant Stausø and can wholeheartedly recommend it! The staff—a true multigenerational restaurant—were incredibly friendly and even served us fluently in German. Overall, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere truly brought the concept of "hygge" to life for tourists. The menu isn't overwhelmingly large, but it's just the right size: you're not bombarded with choices, yet there's something for everyone. The highlight was the "Stausø Schnitzel" communal platter for two or more people. It comes in 300g or 600g portions—the 300g option was definitely the better choice for us, as a group of hearty, hungry men. The schnitzel was a massive, perfectly crispy on the outside and beautifully juicy on the inside. The pat of butter, lemon, and a teaspoon of white cabbage on top were the perfect finishing touches. The peas and fried potatoes as a side dish were beautifully buttery and flavorful, just on the verge of being "too fatty", and juicy enough that no sauce was needed at all.

Despite not having a reservation, we received a very warm welcome. The soups (tomato and mushroom) were fantastic, wow, absolutely delicious! The schnitzels were perfect, they couldn't have been better. We were absolutely stuffed, top-notch!

A very large restaurant with many tables. We had lunch there; it was real home-style cooking, delicious and plentiful. The daily special was meatloaf with fresh vegetables and new potatoes. We'd gladly come again next time 👍 very nice and friendly landlady.
