Great place full of history; if you climb the stairs, you have a great view of Copenhagen, Sweden, and the Øresund Bridge; it's a shame there's trash and cigarette butts everywhere.

Trekroner fort is a sea fort close to the Copenhagen harbour. It was constructed in the year 1787. The fort was an important part of the Danish line of defense during several wars and had a lot of military significance. Currently it looks like an abandoned building. Visited it as part of a canal tour.

Trekroner, meaning “Fortress of the Three Crowns,” is a historic maritime fortress located at the entrance to Copenhagen Harbour. Its origins date back to 1713, when three old warships were sunk to form the basis of a defensive battery. One of the ships was named Trekroner, and the fort was named after her. The current structure was built from 1787 onwards and was a key part of the Danish defences during the Battle of Copenhagen in 1801 and the British attack in 1807. Between 1818 and 1828, and again in 1860, the fort was expanded, but its strategic importance declined after World War I. In 1934, Trekroner was sold to Copenhagen Harbour Services. During the Nazi occupation of Denmark (1940–1945), the fortress was used by the Germans as barracks. After the war it served for a time as a prison for German officers and the former German ambassador. It then remained abandoned until 1984, when it was opened to the public. Trekroner is one of three artificial islands built to protect the harbour of Copenhagen, along with Middelgrundsfortet and Flakfortet, and today it represents a significant testimony to Danish military history.

Mellemrummet

21/09/2025: Truely a hidden gem. This cafe is a charity and has great cappuccinos for 30kr! The workers are all volunteers and super interesting people. This would be a great place to host an event or play boardgames with your friends when it’s raining outside. So Hygge!

CopenHill

07/09/2025: A fascinating building with interesting and unique activities! The “skiing” is horrible. It’s like skiing on the worst icy snow imaginable. Despite that we had a good time for its novelty. Might be a fun activity for those desperate for some “skiing”. Similarly the cafe at the top could be a nice spot to sit with views of the city, but the views are the wrong way (towards the airport) and the vibes aren’t great. The climbing wall looks quite fun but the hurdles you need to jump through in order to climb there make it much less appealing. Many people were running up and down the hill while I was there. It looks like a fantastic place to do that.
04/09/2025: We hosted an event at the CopenHill Rooftop Cafe in July 2025, and had a FANTASTIC experience! Julie was super responsive to our questions and needs and an amazing coordinator the day of the event. We were planning the event from another country, and she and the rest of the events team (shout out to Alexander!) helped us remotely for months in advance of the event. Julie had an answer for every question and always came up with great ideas and potential solutions for issues that came up the day of the event. Not only did she start setting up and preparing well in advance of the event, but she lead the whole team (catering, bar staff), resulting in a seamless event. We received SO many compliments on the venue, the food, and the overall vibe. We wholeheartedly recommend the Rooftop Cafe as a venue space and Julie as an event coordinator!
