10/08/2026: Good sushi. The China box was a bit disappointing.

01/08/2026: **Visit:** July 31, 2026 at 5:30 p.m.–6:30 p.m. The restaurant has mixed opinions. Especially in the Facebook group *Skagen*, there are both very positive and very critical opinions from locals, and tourists from many different countries have given very different reviews. Before my visit, I therefore decided to investigate the restaurant more closely. I read reviews on Trustpilot, Tripadvisor, Facebook and Google Reviews, which together amount to around 477 reviews. After reading them, I therefore arrived with some skepticism – especially about how the staff would handle the guests, and whether the many negative reviews would be noticeable during the visit. ## The food The hot dishes generally tasted really good. Several of the dishes were influenced by the classic Chinese cuisine **椒盐 (jiāoyán)** – the well-known combination of salt and pepper, which originates from the Guangdong province and Hong Kong. Of course, one can discuss how much the dishes are adapted to Danish taste buds. All the hot dishes were at the correct serving temperature, and I had no problems with the quality. ## Sushi The only area where I think the restaurant could improve is the presentation of the sushi buffet. Here it seems as if more emphasis has been placed on quantity than on presentation. The sushi itself tasted quite good, but the buffet appeared a bit messy and therefore less inviting. Restaurant Asia serves, among other things: * Sushi with tempura chicken * Sushi with tempura shrimp These varieties do not contain raw fish, but deep-fried ingredients. In Japanese restaurants, this type of sushi is often prepared in advance and served cold, which is completely normal. In many Chinese restaurants, on the other hand, it is often prepared together with the hot kitchen, where it can be served warm when ordered. Therefore, guests should be aware of the difference between classic sushi with raw fish and tempura sushi, which is a completely different type of sushi. ## Constructive criticism The Mongolian BBQ could also be explained better. Many guests who are unfamiliar with the concept may mistakenly believe that the food is cold or unfinished. A brief explanation in both Danish and English would likely prevent many misunderstandings and thus also a number of negative reviews. In addition, the restaurant could consider: * Clearer signage at the Mongolian BBQ. * Visible hand sanitizer dispensers on both sides of the buffet. * Turning or stirring rice, noodles, and the like a little more often to give the buffet a more inviting look. This is not a requirement, but it improves the overall impression. ## My rating ### Food – 5/5 The temperature of both hot and cold dishes was correct. Fish, shellfish, and raw materials seemed fresh, and the sushi tasted fine without any comments. ### Hygiene – 5/5 The staff cleaned continuously during the visit, without it seeming disruptive. The restaurant generally appeared clean and well-maintained. ### Staff – 4/5 The staff was busy. Some were very smiling, while others were more focused on their work tasks. However, I did not experience any bad service or rude treatment. ### Drinks – 4/5 Water is not free, which foreign tourists should be aware of. However, this is common practice at many restaurants in Denmark. ### Buffet rules – 5/5 As in most Chinese restaurants, the entire party chooses either buffet or à la carte. This is a normal rule and nothing special for Restaurant Asia. ## Overall rating **⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4 out of 5)** After my visit, I must say that I did not experience the serious problems described by several reviews. The food was well-cooked, the temperature was correct, the hygiene was good, and the service was completely acceptable. Therefore, I have difficulty recognizing the restaurant's bad reputation. The inspection reports from the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration do not indicate any problems either. I believe that some of the criticism may be due to misunderstandings about the Mongolian BBQ and the different types of sushi. Overall, I had a good experience and would have no problem recommending the restaurant to others.

26/08/2026: Worthless. The staff were busy doing nothing but didn't feel the need to come and take our order. We just left without ordering anything. The entrance is very difficult to find.

18/08/2026: We had a wonderful experience at Restaurant De 2 Have on a summer afternoon. We arrived around 4 pm. The restaurant was closed at that time, but the kitchen at the bar next door was open and serving food, so we decided to stop there — and we are so glad we did. The location is absolutely beautiful. The bar has three different areas: an indoor space, a covered terrace and an outdoor terrace. It was a sunny but windy day, so we chose the covered terrace. We ate really well: fish & chips, an excellent fish burger, nachos with cheese, guacamole, spicy sauce and yogurt sauce, and the traditional Danish sildemad, made with rye bread (rugbrød) and herring, accompanied by ingredients such as onion, capers, egg and sauces. And plenty of fries! We don't eat garlic and we also needed lactose-free options, so we asked if some of the dishes could be adapted. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful and found all the solutions we needed. We really appreciated their attention and willingness to help. There was soft music playing in the background and a sense of peace that is sometimes difficult to find. Maybe because of the time of day, there were only a few people around, which made the atmosphere even more relaxing. After a long walk on the beach, it felt like the perfect place to slow down and enjoy a little time for ourselves. A beautiful place, great food and genuinely kind service. Highly recommended, and thank you for such a lovely experience!

10/08/2026: We got a Big Burger and a bacon burger with fries there last night. A few hours later, we both felt terrible and were vomiting. I noticed that hygiene isn't taken very seriously there; for instance, the young man who served us grabbed the fries out of the tray with his bare hands—no gloves—and put them into the box. Aside from that, the burgers tasted bland and were thrown together carelessly. That was our last visit there. It’s a shame. I would strongly advise anyone against eating there.

27/07/2026: Nice place, good parking, and above all, support the only place in Sæby that you can bother with our national dish HOT DOG and thanks to the young initiator👍

14/08/2026: Thai food known for vegan friendliness, well this restaurant doesn’t even have tofu nor friendliness. Opted for just pad tai with only vegetables. Received the food in foam container without chili sauce or anything else.

26/08/2026: I really liked it, I had spaghetti bolognese, but it was a bit expensive, but it was still very tasty. I was with my family.

25/08/2026: It was good overall. We ordered pizzas, but had to ask for olive oil - which is an essential part for pizza, at least in my opinion we should have been given it from start, however it was all tasty. I can't complain on the taste of the pizza except the fact the dough was a bit too hard for me personally. The staff was friendly and nice tho. For a fast lunch with family - recommended:)

11/07/2026: I got the tropical smoothie and I was disappointed. You could pretty much only taste a low quality (store) orange juice. Would be fine if the orange juice dominated if it would have been better quality (Tropicana style). Also the texture was a bit of a ice slush. Probably the other options would have been better as the place seemed to be rather popular (lot of people picked up take-away orders).

19/07/2026: We had Belgian waffles with ice cream and jam. The waffles were pre-baked and only reheated. That's exactly how they tasted – reheated and incredibly chewy. Fresh waffles are far superior. Therefore, I advise against ordering these waffles.

12/07/2026: Isbraren in Skagen. Hard not to stop by. There you can get everything the kids want....Ice cream in all varieties. Good yes, but dangerous...hehehe

26/08/2026: We tried various fried fish dishes in all their variations and with a variety of sauces. Crispy and flavorful. The view of the harbor was pleasant, with the sun shining brightly, which at those latitudes never disturbs—quite the opposite.
