29/04/2026: Really good experience with fried pork ad libitum at Restaurant Kaj. The pork from Ladegaard Duroc really tastes of something — crispy, juicy and of an above-average quality. Parsley sauce, potatoes and side dishes were right in the cupboard, and they were replenished continuously. Great praise also for the focus on animal welfare. For 225 kr. it's hard to put your finger on anything. Highly recommended. We had overlooked that there is no á la carte on Wednesday evening, as everything is about pork, but the fantastic staff conjured up a fish fillet with fries, so everyone was happy — even those who weren't into fried pork. Fantastic location right on the waterfront. It's busy on Wednesdays, so be prepared for a bit of a wait, but it's worth it. Remember to book a table — most people in Helsingør and the surrounding area know that this is the best fried pork in town. Without a doubt the best roast pork I've had without being in the kitchen myself. A little on the salty side — but that's just my taste. I'll be back.

29/04/2026: We got a delicious moulles frit which I traditionally look for on my birthday. and even though we had been looking forward to dessert we couldn't squeeze it down. The only thing I thought was that after reading that there was supposed to be lemongrass in it and hearing how good the marinade was - I was a little disappointed that we couldn't taste any lemongrass, and had hoped for a little more power in the taste, I got the feeling that it might have been a little thinner. (We had also booked a table for an hour before the kitchen closes on a Thursday. But it still tasted delicious. And the service was top notch! You really felt comfortable.

17/12/2025: Warning: Be ready to be kicked out after 30 minutes if you only order drinks. I usually don’t write bad reviews, but this was just a shocking experience. Came there today with my partner around 12:30 to have some hot chocolates. As the place was getting busier for lunch time, around 13:00 the manager (I think he was the manager as he was fixing up some chairs in the cafe) came up to us and said “I’m going to have to ask you to leave as people need space to eat”. The table was reserved for 14:30, so I’m assuming he wanted to fit another paying table in before the reservation comes. As someone who works in a cafe, I’m shocked that people get treated this way if they don’t order food. Especially being kicked out without an apology of any kind is something I have never experienced. If I knew that I was going to have to order food around that time to at least sit there for over half an hour, I would have left. This is such a shame, as I have visited this cafe a number of times and have always had a lovely time. The service is always good, especially today the girl was very sweet and even came up to us to ask if there was something we were missing.

19/10/2025: we came hungry and hoping for tapas. Unfortunately they weren’t serving tapas from 4-5pm so we could only get toast and fries. Luckily the toast and fries were delicious. Also lattes. We liked sitting outside in the park. Overall a cool little place and enjoyed the music decor

13/04/2026: Refused to honor gift card, had to go back to the museum reception to talk to them about it and go back to the cafe to wait in line to be seated again and still they refused to honor the gift card, had to get the manager to call the reception before they would give us the food I had already overpaid for.

11/01/2026: Shared tables and big steins of beer were the perfect setting for my pork tonkatsu. The textures and flavors were delicious. Feel like I have to point out the perfectly cooked soft boiled egg as well, always a good sign of a solid ramen spot. Reasonable price for what you get. Would definitely recommend this spot for anyone craving some ramen in Copenhagen! I’ll be back for more. Thanks for a great experience!

The fresh flowers on the table are a very welcome touch, but be careful of the midges, especially during this time of year. Be careful to protect your drinks! Prices are average. The fries are particularly tasty; I recommend trying them! Great place for a quick aperitif or even a more formal coffee!

02/11/2025: Humiliated for your own money - this is a short summary of visit to so much praised restaurant. We visited this place back in 2021 and now in 2025 I’m still traumatized from the experience. Both me and my husband had hair in one of the dishes, I do not know how is it even possible, but it unfortunately happened. Chef of the restaurant (his photo attached) not only did not come to us to comment something about the hair but scolded the waiter who served the dishes quite harsh in our plain sight. I was astonished how mean he is to his own staff, who I heard are working for free being trainees and taking it as an honor to get experience from such a “respectable” restaurant. For me, it’s just bad, bad culture, wrong values and pure abuse. I just delivered my baby less than a year ago, so I was trying to get back in shape and count calories and out of curiosity I asked how many calories was in the set menu that we ordered. Waiter said that he doesn’t know, but he would ask the chef. Later waiter came back and said: “Chef told me to pass it on to you, it’s not my words, but this is what chef told me to tell you. Our food has half of the Mc Donald’s meal calories” This left me speechless, was the chef also insulting us for asking about his food? Waiter nevertheless apologized and said that they should know the amount of calories, but they do not know it unfortunately. I mean if that’s the case, couldn’t the chef just say so instead of trying to insult and humiliate the guests? This reaction from chef was very telling - guy is full of internal issues and unable to handle his emotions so that he just spits his frustration with aggression towards both staff members and customers. Very sad experience. Totally do not recommend. Even the food is not worth it.

20/08/2025: Dining here was a formidable experience, thanks above all to the staff (both service and kitchen), whose warm service and thoughtful presentation made us feel genuinely welcome. They went out of their way to accommodate food restrictions — we even found some of the gluten-free variations more flavorful than the originals. The fish smell of one dish was otherworldly, something I’d happily bottle as a perfume. Pricing is very fair for smaller bites like aperitifs, while the ambitious 15-course menu is certainly a commitment in every dimension (culinary, attention span, financial, ...). The mixed wine-juice pairing was a highlight, with juices adding a creativity and diversity that outshines many wine lists, even alongside some wonderfully unusual bottles.

19/11/2025: We went to Pincho Nation and had a really lovely evening there. The concept is similar to tapas: you order lots of small dishes via the app and try a variety of things from the menu. I would definitely recommend ordering about 4-6 dishes per person, as the portions are rather small – this way you can really sample and share. It's very convenient that you order via the app: you get a code at reception to unlock your table. A little tip: it's best to download the app beforehand; then everything goes even faster on site. You get your drinks yourself at the bar, and the food is then brought to your table – it all works very smoothly and quickly. I was particularly impressed by how family-friendly it is: children are absolutely welcome, the atmosphere is relaxed and easygoing, and the whole family feels comfortable. The staff were consistently friendly, attentive, and helpful – despite the app-based system, you never feel like you're being left on your own. The ambiance is also a highlight: The decor is reminiscent of a circus, creating a fun and unique atmosphere – colorful, vibrant, and simply something different from a "normal" restaurant. Overall: delicious, affordable, family-friendly, a great concept, and a super friendly team. We definitely recommend it – we'll be back!
